LASH LIFT FAQ's
What is a Lash Lift?
It's a lifting technique designed to give you longer-looking lashes without the need for lash extensions. It will look as if you used a really good eyelash curler, only this lift lasts for 8 to 10 weeks! The procedure takes about 45 to 60 mins to complete. It really is an easy way to instantly brighten and open up the eye area!
How do I prepare for the treatment?
Please come to your appointment with NO EYE MAKEUP ON. For better results, remain mascara-free for 24 hours before your treatment. If you wear contacts, please remove them prior to your lash lift. If you have general questions you’re not sure if you are a good candidate for this treatment, please email Holly at holly @pureskincarespa.com with a close up picture of your eyelashes and specific questions that you have. Although reactions to Lash Lifting procedures are extremely rare, please schedule a patch test a minimum of 24 hours before your treatment if you are concerned about allergies/irritation.
Lash Lifts vs. Lash Extensions:
Lash extensions and lash lifts are 2 totally different procedures.. I will not be adding any additional lashes to you. I will simply be curling your natural lashes. That said, for most, it can make your lashes appear fuller because they are so uplifted.
What aftercare is required?
Do not get your lashes wet or apply anything at all to them for 24 hours. This includes cooking over steam, saunas and makeup remover wipes. Be careful not to sleep on your side or face where your lashes would rub against your pillow as the lashes are still malleable and may cause them to fall. Do not rub or play with the lashes, if any irritation occurs apply a clean cold wet pad to the eye area or contact your doctor. After the initial 24-48 hours you may go back to your normal routine. It is best to use oil-free makeup removers and hydrating mascaras. Do not use waterproof mascara as this can be too drying on the lashes.
How long does it last?
6-8 weeks. For some it can last up to 10 weeks. The average lifespan of the natural lash is anywhere for 45-90 days, depending on each individual. On rare occasion, it is not possible to sustain the curl with lashes that have a strong cowlick or slanted growth pattern. Eyelashes are at different stages of the cycle within their life, and as a result, we lose lashes every day.
Does it damage lashes?
If the service is done carefully, the lashes should not show signs of damage since the lifting solution is not being applied all the way to the tips of the lashes. If the lashes are weak and/or damaged before receiving the treatment, it is recommended to wait until your lashes have grown a bit stronger to prevent further damage and over processing.
Is it painful?
The treatment is not painful, but its does feel a little strange while initially applying the rods. This can be a very relaxing service, so let me know if there’s anything I can do to make your service comfortable. If you are claustrophobic, I do not recommend receiving a Lash Lift since you are required to keep your eyes closed for a minimum of 45 minutes.
What are the contraindications?
Cysts on the eyelid, chronic inflammation of the eye, chemotherapy (must be at least 6 months after a chemotherapy treatment-consult with you doctor), skin disease, eye infections, Lasik (wait 6 months after receive Lasik, get approval from doctor), watery eyes, hypersensitive eyes, keratitis, alopecia, trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of lashes), any disease that causes shaking, dry eye syndrome, glaucoma (consult doctor), claustrophobia, contact lenses (remove before treatment), allergy to gel eye pads. Please request a patch test if you’re concerned with irritation to the lifting solution. When in doubt, consult your doctor.
